Give Yourself an Upgrade
Why do we sometimes cheat ourselves? Why don’t we upgrade the tools and processes we rely on every day? Could it be because we’ve had years of conditioning that good enough…is good enough? Is it because it’s hard to measure the impact or value of doing so? Could it be we feel smarter when we “make do”? Is it because we don’t appreciate or believe that there’s value in having best of breed to work with? The answer? All of the above.
Whatever you do during or after reading this blog is a Google upgrade…Microsoft has commandeered that space! There are, of course, lots of parts to the “do I want to upgrade” question. You can try to determine if you or your team members and employees are spending more and more time because your networks are sluggish and if accumulated bugs in your programs are causing downtime, resulting in time spent on mundane and annoying things rather than being productive. But what I want to talk about today is an upgrade that doesn’t need a “+/-“ chart to plat the decision pricing and the cost will have no impact on your banking account. I’m talking about upgrading your brain. Even biggie or super sizing it.
I know you, my readers. I know that most of you are very successful and have been in your chosen career for many years. I know that many of you may even be considering putting less hours into your career and more hours into leisure. So, I have a couple of questions for you. Do you think there’s any value in getting smarter? Any value in keeping your brain sharp? If so, I have an idea for you. Exercise. I’m not writing a self-help blog, but I want to share that I’ve been studying this for a while and the latest research finds a strong correlation in building better biceps and prettier legs and posterior. Exercise affects the brain on multiple fronts. It increases heart rate, which pumps more oxygen to the brain – our brains need up to 20% of the oxygen we need and being physical releases hormones that aid in creating a nourishing environment for the growth of brain cells…yes, I said the growth of cells. So, you are creating your own upgrade? Most cool, eh? You deserve it don’t you? I mean it’s not the eternal fountain of youth, but who knows. Remember, I think I know you. I think I know you care about being smart, you care about staying sharp and you care about being good at what you do. So why not give yourself an upgrade! You deserve it.
